Why do you want to be a part of this list?

The “Real Estate Forum” listserv is intended to serve as means to communicate off-market listings, pocket listings, events, important news and items of interest in regards to the real estate market. It is also used from time to time as a means to gather our membership’s opinions in regards to real estate activities. Once an active member, each user can send messages to all the other members of the list by emailing investors@listbox.com.

Introduction

Thank you for being part of our Listserv community. To ensure the best possible experience for all Listserv members, we have established some basic guidelines for participation. We will periodically send this document out to the section lists and new users as a friendly reminder for experienced users and to assist newer users with proper listserv operations. The guidelines will also be posted on the Real Estate Online website under resources; this will also contain a web form to sign up for the listserv.

This list serve is not moderated and comments made have no review before being sent to subscribers or other users. Subscribers are expected to exercise both common sense and courtesy in the messages they transmit via the listserv program.

By using the Real Estate Forum listserv, you agree that you have read and will follow the guidelines set for these peer discussion groups. You also agree to reserve list discussions for topics best suited to the medium, i.e. real estate related. This is a great way to solicit the advice of your peers, benefit from their experience, participate in an ongoing conversation, and to help promote better interaction with others in the real estate community.

Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with these important guidelines. If you have questions, contact Abraham Ziegler, list manager via email at ajz@re-online.net or 858-736-9538. In order to preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, the list owner reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership on lists for members who violate these terms. If you do not accept these guidelines, please unsubscribe from the list by following the directions at the bottom of the listserv message.

Listserv Etiquette

Professional, respectful language in listserv posts is expected from all members.

The listserv must be used for business purposes only, no personal use.

Include a signature tag on all messages. Include your name, affiliation, location, e-mail address, and or best way to contact you for more info. Do not include drawings, pictures, maps, hyperlinks, graphics, etc. in the identifier lines since these materials may not be compatible on all systems.

Inquiries about specific products or brands should be directed to individual companies.

Inquiries about specific research articles, abstracts or poster presentations should be directed to individual authors.

Do not post messages that encourage or facilitate members to arrive at any agreement that either directly or indirectly leads to price fixing, a boycott of another’s business, or other conduct intended to illegally restrict free trade.

State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject.

Remember that when you hit the reply button that you will be automatically responding only to the original sender. Only send a message to the entire list when it contains information that benefits everyone. When doing so include only the relevant portions of the original message in your reply. Delete any header information, and put your response before the original posting.

When replying to messages, do not reply to the entire list if a reply is directed at a single individual. Replying to the individual will be more appropriate. Replies of a personal nature should not be sent to the group.

Do not send administrative messages, such as “remove me from the list”, through the listserv. To unsubscribe from the list, follow the directions at the bottom of the listserv email message or contact the administrator directly.

Warn other list subscribers of lengthy messages either in the subject line or at the beginning of the message body with a line that says “Long Message.”

When using an Auto Reply message for times you are out of the office, please be sure to “Create a Rule” (this is easily done with Microsoft Outlook’s Out of Office Assistant) that would prohibit sending the message to the list.

The Rules
